American Flyer engine that was amongst my brother's things at his estate sale, and would like to know what it is called.

My brother left me with a basement full of HO scale and American Flyer trains and accessories.  The picture are of one of the engines that originally I thought was the Blue Bullet, but it's not blue and a few things are different.  I would appreciate finding out whaat exactly it is.  Thanks in advance.https://www.flickr.com/photos/46186264@N04/?

Your locomotive looks like this American Flyer #350. The engine number and tender markings on your loco look like they are decals. I don't know if that is original to the loco and tender, or were add-ons to customize it.

That engine was repainted and then Rock Island decals were added. It was originally a 350 Royal Blue with cast in handrails, made in 1950. The front 4 wheel pilot truck is missing. Just for completeness one other Gilbert postwar engine used that casting. It was the red 353 Circus engine also made in 1950. Those engines are less common and much more valuable than the 350 so it is unlikely a 353 was used as the donor engine.

nice find! althought the royal blue does look better than the black, it still is a nice custom model.
