KRM To all of you who have not looked, don't care or no no better. CTT is an unsecure website. Just check the lock conection in the address when you have it open. Been that way for years no matter how many times it has been questioned. Beware on this site.

FYI, the survey is hosted by Survey Monkey, which IS a secure site, and this is where your information is entered.

No surprise. All of Kalmbach's sites are non-secure. I don't know how your computer displays things but "Not secure" is right up there on the top bar on mine.
I can't say I'm bothered by it, my computer's a toy, not a tool. I don't use it for anything sensitive so anyone hacking in is just going to be bored.
BUT, if and when Kalmbach gets their website and/or network overhauled it would behoove them to go for that "secure" status. They stand to lose a lot more than I do from a hack.

Thanks to everyone who took our survey. It is now closed. Stay tuned for the next one in a couple of months!
One last thing about the Chantilly train show. I found a YouTube video on last weekend's "World's Greatest Hobby On Tour" and I'll post the link below.
It's an hour-and-a-half long, so you may want to watch it in segments or speed up though some of it. Not a bad video though.
No, I'm not in it, even though I'm sure I saw the guy shooting it. He's a bit hard to miss. As for me, I'm always...

Thanks--changing the end option worked! Making a note to do this for all future surveys.

Just took survey and worked fine. Clicked done and window closed.

This survey was made by me. I looked into options within Survey Monkey and found that (I think) you change options after you complete it. I chose "close the window" instead of the standard option. Could someone please take the survey and let me know what happens now?
You done good, Flintlock! We used to like staying at the Henry Clay Inn, and visiting the Squash-a-penny at Doswell.
Always eager to please Fifedog! So here goes...
It took about a two and a half hour drive to get to Chantilly from where I live in Henrico County. Route 95 behaved itself and so did everyone on it so there were no delays, thank goodness!
Great show! Exhibitors included Lionel, MTH, Bachmann, Athern, Walthers, and quite a few others. Quite a few dealers there as well, Gryzybowski's was down from Scranton PA, they're the most high-profile one I can think of. LOTS of good stuff for sale, but more on that later.
Local Northern Virginia model train clubs had some outstanding operating displays in scales ranging from N scale all the way up to Standard Gauge. The Standard Gauge club's layout was, quite frankly, staggering! How can I describe it? Well the phrase that springs to mind is...
"Tonight we're gonna party like it's 1939!"
The wallet didn't stay in the pocket long, I lucked into a Lionel "Pennsy Torpedo" reproduction from 1997, like new, in the box! Got a goooood deal on it too! This one may only come out once a year for a romp under the Christmas Tree. The wife, Lady Firestorm, was very impressed as well, she just loves all things "Art Deco!"

Picked up a few other odds-n'-ends I didn't know I was looking for, plus seven boxes of Girl Scout cookies from some nice young ladies I ran into on the way out.
A good day all around! I'm glad I went!
PS: I hadn't heard about Ashland VA establishing a rail park. In a very real sense, the town of Ashland IS a railpark to begin with, and a darn good one.
The old train station is still there as a visitor center and mini RF&P museum, and with restrooms that work! A good place to hang out and watch trains. Plus there's plenty of places to grab a snack or a meal, AND there's a train store in town just down the street from the train station.

Flintlock - Howzabout a report from Chantily. The show was actually advertised out here past the panhandle. Also, looks like Ashland is trying to establish a "rail park".
Good evening all,
I took the survey just now (I guess it was still open) and I got redirected as others indicated above. In any event, it will be interesting to see what the results will be. I hope everyone has a good day.

Rene Schweitzer Thank you to all who took our survey! I am pleased that we received many responses. Look for a roundup of them in the May 2020 issue.

The survey may be over but the month isn't! I'm heading to the "World's Greatest Hobby On Tour" show tomorrow. Who knows what I'm going to run into up there?
"Lord, have mercy on me..."
Then again, I got a look at a fellow club member's O and S gauge collection last night. Holy jeez, I thought I was bad!
Just a standard function of Survey Monkey. I get them all the time from my healthcare providers.
Trains, trains, wonderful trains. The more you get, the more you toot!
Rene Schweitzer rtraincollector I clicked on take survey and it took me to a political type survey which I do not feel is something for a train magazine to be asking. I clicked on the link in two different browsers, just as you would, and did not see anything political, just our one-question survey.

That's strange, as soon as I completed the CTT poll that's when the political poll popped up of it's own accord. Then again, I visit the website through Bing/Google, so maybe that had something to do with it.
As I said before it didn't bother me.
I figured it was along with the ride. I took it anyway.

We're trying something new for the print magazine. Please take our one-question survey about what locomotive and/or piece of rolling stock you've purchased recently. Select answers will appear in the May 2020 issue's news department.
