POTRZBE

Does Hornby make 3 rail O gauge compatible with all the features we know and love from Lionel, MTH, et al?  That is knuckle couplers, track power requirements, etc.

If I remember correctly Bob Keller likes to collect British toy trains, he might be able to answer your questions.

Try sending him a private message, just click on one of his photos on the top of this section.

Hi

I doubt it I do know for fact the couplings are very different hook and link or later an auto hook and loop, and I dont know what voltage it runs on AC or DC so I would check if I where you

Hornby O gauge Toy trains have not been produced for a very long time and are very collectable  and prices well Ouch!!

I would find and contact The Hornby Collecors club but be aware there are two clubs with the same name.

One is for the modern Hornby OO scale trains and run by the modern Hornby company

The other is specificaly the Hornby O gauge tin plate toy trains and Hornby Dublo made by the  Original Liverpool based Hornby company started by Frank Hornby.

That seaced to exsist in the early 1960's and a seperate club all together

All the features you love well most of those from what I can see where in the "OO" scale trains, not to be confused with the US OO scale same scale but very different and un compatable.

regards John

The British company Hornby are celebrating their 100th year and are releasing very limited numbers of replicas of their first model locomotive from a century ago.

If you find the very English introduction difficult, the details are at 4:43 in the very long video...

But if you are interested in the whole range stick with it: there are some amazing things in British OO, including finally a complete scale model of the 1937 "Coronation Scot". This is the blue train, not the 1939 red train that visited the USA. Since there was only one such train and it nver ran in regular service, that may never be modelled....
