I've looked at Henning and pondered their bell but the ones I've seen look like these below. I think the one on Hennings says it's for engines equiped with a bell ringer.

The have parts for pre-and post-war trains, Lionel definately, American Flyer I'm not sure, but it doesn't hurt to look or ask.
