Good evening all,

Saw that I was on and the December thread was not started.  Maybe not the usual Christmas concept, but what the heck.   Saw both granddaughters perform today and Lucas was a big help around the house.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Thanks Mikey C for starting the new Coffee Pot.  And congrats on #7.

Rain, 36, and gloomy along the Potomac Highlands.  Well, my good luck ran out, as our water pump (or possibly the pressure swith, or possibly both) is on the fritz.  Won't shut off.  Haven't found any leaks in the line (my biggest fear).  Can't get above 40 psi.  Not the way I wanted to start December.

Alexis did finish painting the water, before her boyfriend took her back to college.  Not sure I like the color yet.  May have to run the trains today if my sister and family stop by this afternoon, so I got the bridges back in place.

2 PE trains later today.  Saw the 2019 CP Holiday Train on youtube, and all I could do was watch in envy.  WB/PE folks don't allow lighted displays on trains, so my efforts from last year rest in one of our shops...

Rain here over night high in the 30s today. Don't have to shovel rain. A good football day for me Buckeyes and Mich. State won their games.

Rain here not much else, snow all around us so that is good with me.

Fife, Something easy, check the small pipe going into the pressure switch to see if it is plugged sometimes it will trap the pressure it was at when it plugged then stay in that mode but the fact it is running and not building pressure sounds like a leak in the well piping to the house leaking the pressure back into the well casing or the ground from the well to house. You should be able to maybe see that water in the yard . Sad

Not doing much in Kokomo at the moment, just cold, grey and dreary outside.  Gonna go in the layout room in a few min and tinker around, clean up the place a bit.    Mike the Aspie

Thanks Mikey.  Got a cold.  Started raining around 9 AM yesterday.  Got to truck from stand at 9:15.  Came home as I have a cold.

Fifey, may be too much water in pressure tank.  If blader tank, may have a hole in blader.  If blader tank, has "tire valve".  Add air to that.  Pressure switches have gone bad too.

Clean out Town office today.  Mainly pictures on the walls.  Will be over Tuesday night around 7:15. Big Smile

Just got back from Zionsville Train Depot, I had my 2332 GG1 set on consignment, along with a slug of super clean postwar O gauge track.  Decided to keep the set(I did get it from the original owner).  Its a built up set done by the selling shop in the late 40's.  Three smaller 2400 series brown tinplate passenger cars instead of the Madison cars, mated to a green 2332 GG1(stripes faded away). Came with a super clean, boxed RW transformer.    Getting it cleaned back up and ready for Christmas layout duty.     Mike the Aspie

Hello there,

winding down from Thanksgiving, planning Christmas prep. Took my rifle for a walk yesterday, the only thing I saw was a flagging white tail about 250 yards across the field. If the weather guessers are right I'll probably skip hunting tomorrow.

Had a short conversation with Roy today. He's got a lot going on right now. Not taking time to post.

Went to the show in Johnstown today. The news was frantically predicting an ice storm telling everybody to stay off the roads. As I expected there was ice on the trees on top of the mountain between here and there but the roads were fine except for a couple of miles that were well salted. I spent $5 to get in and $5 for an HO microwave tower and a rough Gilbert caboose to salvage the trucks and couplers.

Now watching the Kilchers and enjoying home made pitza.

Best move on.

Prayers for those in need

Hello to all of you fellow trainees....   Here in Philomath (near Corvallis) Oregon... had some white stuff on the ground, but none on the roads... 30's and 40's and no ice yet...Last week was beautiful weather, this one is suposed ot have more clouds and liquid sunshine.  . fixed a short on my ancient O27 and trains now run again... ... and got some lights on the house and fencing.... Grandson helped, but was bored with just holding the lights so they didn't get tangled in the bushes... He doesn't realize how helpful that was... However, I have another fence to light, and I'll let him do it himself.... He might appreciate someone holding the lights. We'll set up my 3x7 village with an oval.  I resurrected an old red ebay special.. "dockside switcher" and put a Thomas face on it.  Green and white gondolas, silver tank car and red caboose complete my Christmas train.....  it is one thing that he gets to put together all by himself..(after I set the tracks). We make some adjustments later, but maybe not this year... he's now an all knowing 10.
Hope all of you had a grand Thanksgiving.  Looking forward to Christmas... but first a lot of decorating... a little at a time, to prolong the season.  Hope to get him up to Portland to watch 4449 do its Christmas run in the next two weekends....
Always in TRAINing.  Richard.

Good morning from the Valley.

The economy for central Ohio is going to be good for another year. No doldrums here when OSU beats TTUN.

Working on the benchwork for the new layout.

This is how the arc at the end of the table was determined.

Mornin' boys.  Cold and damp along the Patterson Creek cut-off.  Glad to be home today.  Long hours wearing me down, and it doesn't help that I wake up before the roosters each day.

Thanks for all of the advice on the water pump.  I gave the pump a few taps with a hammer, then I dove into the Square D pressure switch, sanded down the contacts, and got the system working properly.  Think I'll buy a new switch next time at Lowes.

Hello there,

Richard...WELCOME....tell us about yourself.

Buckeye. ....lookin good!!

Fife....make sure that new switch has the low pressure cutoff feature. It will protect the pump in the event the well gets to low, protect the house in the event of a broken pipe and it can't build pressure .

Best get going.

Morning.  53 and sunny.  Another front to come through.  Temps will drop some.

Fifey, glad you got pump going.  Banks is like me.  Country growing up [he's still there], you learn those things.  Also the lake house had a well.  Had to replace blader tank one time.

Good job Buckeye.  [see I can be nice to the old rascal]

Have a good one.

Hey good morning......
Schedule has been absolutely crazy last 4 days, I did cook most of the day on T-Day.  Got to bed late.  Tried to sleep in a bit on Friday, got cut short, did some work on the layout and cleaned up in prep for Jenni's niece and nephew.  Spent some time with Dad at the house.  The kids did come and look at the layout for a bit, then to Mickey D's for dinner and off to the Firehouse for a ride on the ladder truck with Santa Claus.  We got pictures, hot chocolate and the kids got some ornaments for the tree.  Got home late as we had to round trip the kids an hour south and back.

Saturday stayed at the house for the majority of the day, Dad is not feeling it.  Saturday night, Jenni made dinner and tried to go to bed early, some idiot that lives next door got drunk and hit the side of the house at 1230 AM and we were up until 3 with the police and all that.  Hit and run, they better hope I don't find out who the MF'r is, I'll bury him in the back freakin' yard.....

So that sets up Sunday as we were SUPPOSED to leave at 10 for the Edison show and didn't leave until 1230, slept late....Jenni bought a Z scale Christmas set and some N scale stuff and me? 2 trucks....since we were late we didn't get to see the full show and didn't find what I needed.   Well, there is always February I guess.  Spent most of the night at Mom and Dad's had left overs and fixed Jenni's wipers.  Sat with Dad a while as well.  Prospects are so-so.  No more chemo as he is weak enough as it is.  Trying to get him to eat, we suspect that the radiation on his scapula nicked the esophagus and that is is causing him the eating issues.  We are just waiting on the barium results.

Thanks for remembering Dad, this is a long road....and prayers for all in need.

Looks like you all had a great T-Day, that is fabulous!!

Doing double duty for work, expect to be in Virginia Beach on the 15th through the 20th......

Back to work, will be checking in later.....

Good afternoon from a cloudy 36°F Southern Ohio,

Wow, December already!  An up-date on why I’ve been so busy, I am changing jobs.  I am going back to the project and position I left in April 2016. I am excited to get back into Nuclear Enrichment R&D.  Besides being very interesting the work week will be 40 hours rather than the 50+ hours I’ve had for the past 3 ½ years.  As it turned out my interview in mid-October was with people who I hired and had worked for me in the past.  I am going through the exit process this week and will start the new job this coming Monday.

Richard - Welcome to the pot

May God bless you and your families (special prayers for your Dad Rich)

Afternoon Fellas

Been a long while since my last post. Life got away from me.

Got laid off from work back in September before the big move. So been job hunting since, and working on the new house. Got the under and over cabinet lights installed, and just finished the new backsplash this morning. Have cabinets ordered for behind the wetbar to give us storage for glasses and liquids Wink. Also have wine racks for the wine cellar on order. Both should be arriving in the next week or so.

Kids are doing well, and so is TheQ.

Fife - glad you got the waterpump sorted! Doesn't surprise me in the least.

Buckeye - layout looks nice! What flooring did you go with?

Good afternoon,
A hello to Richard and Mike.
Where is Roy and what has happened to Rob?  Huh?
Rich, prayers for your dad. It is hard no matter when you have to go through it.
Brent, happy job hunting. Glad those days are behind me.
Phish, back to 40 hours sound good!
Progress is looking good Buckeye!!!
Fifey, those low pressure shut offs are fine but most deep water well pumps can keep 8 to 10PSI even with a leak so it may not do it. They are more for a shallow well where they may run dry. But for the money I agree with Banks, that it is a feature worth the money. Next switch I get will have it.
I did a flush out our hot water tank today, should have done it about two years ago. The heater is 4 years old and did need it.
We have everything set to go for wifey’s hip replacement tomorrow. Won’t know what time till after 5:00pm today so I will be off the grid for a day or two till she gets settled back in. We got the tree up yesterday and wife is decorating it today. Checking things off the list.
Weather is fair here but next week down to the single digits. Oh well it is December.
Best Get.

Thanks 88. The flooring is a vinyl plank flooring found at Home Deport. Our contractor recommended it for the basement.

Good afternoon!

My #2 God daughter and her girlfriend arrived last night from Cali and they are a welcome sight.  Missed my 2 girls!!  Dad are pretty good but went to bed about 730 and appeared to be out the rest of the night.  My God Daughter stood the watch last night while he slept.  Had a fire call at 1100 but I barely remember hearing it, I've been tired as of late, doing double duty at work then Dad/ fire stuff at home.

Tonight is the County Fire Meeting and Elections.

I'm the only one running for 1st Vice President, so that will be a shoo in...lol.  The usual anarchy will continue during the meeting as always.  Next week is Line/Exec Meeting then Regular Meeting Night with Elections and that, my friends is a storm brewing....lol.  Hope to put in some Firehouse tree selling time on Saturday.

Daughter has requested the conventional Polar Express rather than the LionChief, so I have found everything and when the tree is up Saturday Night, I will accomodate her.

Thanks for the prayers for Dad.  Youse giz are the bestest!!

Prayers for those in need......

Busy day, so off I go, will check back later

Good Evening from a beautiful clear 46°F Southern Ohio,

Showered up and waiting on 1900.  I’ve got all but my exit interview tomorrow at 1600.  Really looking forward to the new/old job.

I may work on some decorating tonight especially if I can draft some help.

Buckeye - I like the flooring too.  I’d like to replace the carpet in the basement with it.

NWF - Rotating shift may be in the future, but for now straight dayshift.

Kev - special prayers for your bride and her caregivers and surgeons

Good night and may God bless you and your families

Long day guys,,,,,,,,,,,but a good day!!!!

Wifey up-date. We got up at 4:00am and checked in at 6;00
She went in the operating room at 7:30 and the doctor was talking to me at 9:00. he said everything went good and that her hip was in real, real bad shape. one of the worst he has seen and he does a lot of them. He should know, he has had both of his hips replaced and it gives him some extra insite.

He also said she should feel much better in two weeks and be back to normal in six weeks. He told me I could split for a couple of hours till she got out of recovery and into a room on the second floor. So I came home to throw the cat out and get something to eat before I got back there around 10:45. They had her up and walking this afternoon by 2:00. She seems to be doing good and we hope she can come home tomorrow afternoon. She is eating again but tired.

Thanks again to all of you for all your support.

Beat and want to get some sleep.  Yes

Kev.... Great news! Make sure she stays on her pain medicine as prescribed, no more, no less.

Below is an additional photo of the flooring in the B&O Blue and Grey station room.  The contractor had his youngest son put down the floor. He called his dad for help a couple times.
