611 / York weekend
Posted by trainguy2 on Sunday, October 20, 2019 8:26 AM

Well another year skips by and another October train weekend goes into the history books. First,, Riding behind N&W 611 on Friday morning was amazing. Rode in the presidental car.One of those once in a life time things. If i can figure out how to post pics I will. Followed up with York on Friday afternoon and Saturday. Had a nice talk with Rodger and our new editor at the Ctt boooth. To be honest, the only down side to the weekend was the scheduling. Why they decided to run 611 on the same weekend as York to me didn't seem the best choice. Managed to get 3 hours in at the show on Friday. Saturday I will never do again. You better have your running shoes on because the show opens at 9 and even though they're not supposed to half the dealers are packrd up by noon. All in all a good show though. I'll post my finds in the next post.

Since I live in PA I saw 611 two weeks ago. Super nice looking engine and train. I always like the Thursday noon opening of the TCA show and also attended Friday. Once in the past I went on a Saturday and my experience was like "trainguy 2". Too many folks packing up or already gone. It looks like the York show for all practical purposes in the future will be just a one day show, since Thursday opening is being done away with and Saturday is marginal at best. It would be nice if those selling would stick around and be there on Saturday for the folks who work and can't be there Friday!

Never been there on Saturday . Been there late on Friday and dealers in the member halls start covering up shortly after 4. Not  sure what moving to two days will do. Curious to see what the hours are.
