My wife's first cousin is a retired astronaut (shuttle pilot, commander, and a stint on the Russian space station Mir). A few years ago, he showed me a prewar O-gauge locomotive that he had inherited and knew nothing about. He asked whether I could get it to run. I could and did. The next time I was at his house, I was surprised to see that he had converted his astronaut-memorabilia room to toy trains and his pool table to a layout!
