That is absolutely incredible!!!!!!!!!!!!! You are very, very lucky, indeed!!!!!!!

One of the best things about these trains is that they belonged to members or your family and have been passed down to you. Besides the trains, though, I'm sure that you've become friends with the toy trains enthusiast who lives in your grandma's old house. The people that you meet is one of the best parts of the hobby.

Some members of my family had trains, but unfortunately none of them have survived for me to have. My unlce on my mom's side had a Lionel Scout set and a 157 station platform, but my grandpa sold it many, many years before I was born. My grandpa had a clockwork passenger set with a cast iron steam engine (might have been American Flyer, Hafner, Bing or Ives), but one can only guess as to what happened to it. My dad and his brother had a cheap British clockwork set (probably Mettoy or Brimtoy). It was stored in a shed that burned down when I was about 2 years old.

Have fund with your new found treasures! Keep us updated on what happens with you!

Hey Ya'll

It seems that your 13 christmas is the Magical one. You make new discoveries and get what you have wanted since you first saw a Lionel Train.

Well, that rings true for me. This christmas, I was totally broke, so I sold my hole train collection (3 pecies, not that much) to buy christmas presents for my family.

Well, belive it or not, I did not do it reluctantly, I was happy.

For christmas I recived a Lionel Riding The Rails Hobo Train Set.

When I was visiting my family in Sumter after christmas, I hit the Lionel Jackpot.
In my Great Grandma Hatfeilds House (she has been in a nursing home since my Great Grandaddy Hatfeild died. It was rented, but I was given permission to see what they've done with the place.

When they rewnted it, I told the family (this was mean, and I was shocked later on) that I would flaythenn withen and inch of their life if they sold anything that had not been sold in the yard sale.

Well, I wnet in to the living room, and dicovered a really neat hirail layout. It was everything I had dreamed of. I didn't mind that they knoced a hole in the wall so it could go through the bathroom (by the toilet, perfect train watchin space) to a return looop in a bedroom.

I went intro the attic, and disvoerd a large box that had been hidden by the insulation, so it was not sold. I opened it, and there was a wounderful site.
There was a Lionel Prewar City of Portland Streamliner, and a steam frieght set, all in good condition. also with it was a full 5 years of Model Builder magazine.

Despite the fact that that was the train they were hunting for, the let me have them, since the were my great grandpas.

When IO visited my Uncle Brians house, I found two boxes. One had an Postwar O-27 passenger set and a Texas special freight set (The passenger set was the one pictured behind the Texas Special in the 1954 catolog)
This was given to me also (The second box had some operating cars, accesories, and track)

When I visited my Aunt Sandys, I discovered my Uncle Vick's old Lionel prewar freight set.

That was ofrtunate. My dad was estactic when he picked me up and we are building another room next to the car portfor a rec room. There will be a shelf layout with 0-72 and 0-84 curves. This was inspired from the Train Space article in the Feburary 1996 issue of CTT.
