American Flyer transformer #1295

Thank you for the info. 1929 - 1935 would be in the ball park for when my father probably recieved his train. This forum is wonderful and I appreciate the answers I've gotten. It really helps.

I am not sure that American Flyer ever included a transformer with Wide Gauge sets.  In looking through the catalogs that featured the 1295 transformer, the descriptions of the Wide Gauge sets always had a note similar to the following:

"We recommend our transformers of xxx watt capacity or more"   

The 1295 transformer first appeared in the 1929 catalog and last appeared in the 1935 catalog.

Thank you so much! 1930 is right in the ball park for when my Dad would have gotten the train (he would have been 8). I tried looking at catalogs but they are hard to find on the internet. I hope to use this forum in the future as like you say there is great American Flyer knowledge. Gonna try to find a 1930 catalog. Thank you again. Lori

Welcome to the forum, traincomet.

There are many members who have great American Flyer knowledge. I am not one of them. However, the 1930 American Flyer catalog lists this model transformer, so maybe something like the 3195 or 4693 engines would be a starting point.

Hello, I am trying to replace my father's American Flyer wide gauge train set that was thrown out by my mother. My father was born in 1922 and I assume he would have gotten the train set when he was around 10 years old (maybe earlier). All I have remaining from the set is the transformer which is an American Flyer transformer #1295. Does anyone out there know what train set this transformer was used with? I know I can't accurately replace his train set but any information that can get me closer to the time frame that he got it will help tremendously with picking out the correct cars/engines. Thank you, any info will help!
