New catalog up...

Looking at the Polar Express additional coaches and possible 611J with whistle steam which I passed on last time because it didn't have whistle steam.

I'm considering the A-A NYC F units and maybe the B unit if it actually is another power unit.

Thanks for the link Marty,

The only thing I see I want is the same thing I wanted and ordered what will be one year ago on Feb 2nd. BNSF TIER 4 set now pushed out to May 16th 2019 by those that said I could have it last Oct 2018. Now I see thay have an offer in LionChief 2.0 for the same engine. How many years will that take to show up?? Laugh

Good evening all,

Not much in there I would want.  Was surprised to see some 2-4-2 steamers offered for separate sale, but they are NOT Lion Chief Plus and at $200 a pop, that is a lot of money for a bottom of the line engine and no conventional power option.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

I like the catalog.  Lots of stuff but I do scratch my head when a flats with a tank are $129.  Some of the sets with Legacy are atractively priced.

The LC+2.0 was an easy call after the latest Legacy units came with the ability.  The writing was on the wall.  I guess we'll discuss this in the fall Legacy meeting when they start to show up at dealers.  It certainly does muddy the already busy Lionel remote control.  I guess this was the answer to run LC+ via a Legacy remote.  Should help Lionel sell some mid range engines for the Legacy / TMCC folks.

Marty,

Help me with this, LionChief Plus 2.0 does not come with a remote. So if you don't have Legacy or TMCC what do you do to run it? Do you have to buy a universal remote to run it's features or are you forced to have Legacy or TMCC controler?

Then you will need a Universal Remote or run it conventionally.

No.

If you (1) listen to the video he doesn't say anything about having to have a remote to run it conventionally, (2) if you look at the chart it says both lionchief + and Lionchief+2.0 can be run conventionally, I looked for that also and there is nothing I have seen that even suggest you might need a remote to operate conventionally

I never asked anything about having a remote to run it conventionally I know you can but with LionChief Plus some fuctions don't work on transformer control. Like setting sound levels, crew talk and such.

(1) what video? (2) Yeah but will running it conventionally provide all fuctions? Marker lights. Ditch lights, Strope lights, Mars lights, setting sound levels, crew talk and so on.

And if you missed it,,,,,,,,,,,,,I see on page 198 that the universal remote shows it runs LionChief Plus 2.0, LionChief Plus and LionChief? So goes my question.

Also RT, is your name Marty?

Good evening all,

Extremely busy day at work.  Ok weather for walking today, but we go into the deep freezet tonight.  Put a couple pieces of insulation over the crawl space entrance to try and keep the house warmer and pipes from freezing.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

No Kevin but excuse me for missing the part where you said " it's features" I sometime get ahead of my self when reading. If you take that out of your statement then you can see where I messed up and answer. I was trying to help you. And missed something. but I guess you never do that, But to your question now I have reread it yes you do need a remote of sometype. Sorry again,

KRM

All the built in features would require a controller. Transformer control would give you whitle/bell.

Some audio features should able to be accessed via some bell / whistle button pushes like in LC+ does now in conventional.  The Universal Remote gives you access to couplers and easier access to sounds as well as overall volume adjustment.  Since it's all new and until we get more info this is what we have to go on.

My gut feeling is the LC+ side will operate as it does now.  The TMCC control will give you the same control of a TMCC engine now.

Thanks Guys, Guess I should try to be more clear when asking a question.

So for all the features you will need to purchas a Universal Remote to go with the LionChief + 2.0 then. An added 50 bucks to the cost but you can split it over three engines.

I noticed the Spy vs Spy car too.  I also noticed the cabooses with a web cam.  If the MKT version was not offered, I don't think I'd be interested.  There is also a NYC heavyweight passenger set led by a Hudson that looks good - I'll have to see how finances work out before I bite on this one, though.

I finally found the video about the universal remote.  Was interesting.  However, it sounds like the Legacy equipment before Bluetooth capability was added to Legacy might not be included in the "universal" control.  Buy another Legacy control set and store it for when the current Legacy control set goes belly up?

Thanks for posting the link, Marty.

I like that big L is offering building kits (page 180).  They look sharp.  As for my particular taste, the Transcontinental 150th Anniversary generals are way too pricey.

Just didn't see any gotta-haves this year.  Ok maybe the Scooby-Doo boxcar...

...got a thing for Velma.
