Corner Field Model Railroad, 16720 Pioneer Rd., Middlefield, OH 44062 - This is worth the trip.
Just a tad bigger than most layouts except maybe the Chief's

Their website says they "specialize in used trains" http://cornerfieldmodelrailroadmuseumandhobby.com/home.html
Some pretty good videos out there too:
Trains, trains, wonderful trains. The more you get, the more you toot!
Penny....
Yes, I saw many used pieces on their shelves. Used track and switches, too. I always enjoy finding a used train car then cleaning it up and putting it on the tracks. My favorite find was 8 Lionel cars at the I-76 Antique Mall east of Akron. I paid the outrageous price of $7.50 per car. These cars were in very good condition and looked great after a fast cleaning. Many of my scale MTH Amtrak cars are used, too. One half hour of fixing with solder and I had a beautiful fleet of lighted Amtrack cars.
BTW, Penny, do you remember the Mack Lowry Railways of America Model Train Layout located in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. I visited it as a kid with my uncle.
One amazing railroad!

What an awesome layout ! Never knew about it, thanks for posting !
I always enjoy seeing other's layouts. You can always draw inspiration
( a.k.a. Rip Off great ideas )
Another great layout that is under mentioned, and under covered is the one at the Carnegie Science Center in Pittsburgh.

Paul...Must agree 100%! I have used several ideas from other layouts. Stone bridge piers was one of them. I most likely not purchase not purchase tunnel portals again because I saw how others were making them in CTT or on a layout. A great source of ideas are the accessory vendors at train shows, i.e., York.
I've been there twice now and it never gets old. Tom Jr. is an expert at running the layout and is aware of where visitors are to sound horns and adding some excitement to a video you may be making. It's a must see!

I heard of it because several pics of it appeared in Bruce Greenberg's "Model Railroading A Family Guilde" in 1979(?) when it was still at the Buhl Planitarium. Here are some vintage pics I found:

No, I don't. That's why I went and looked it up!

And having looked at that page, I remembered going to a "restaurant where we could eat in a train car" that we drove for quite awhile to get to when I was 4 or 5! Guess what! I've been trying to figure out where that was for more years than I care to count! Thanks!
The model trains (and maybe the 1:1 scale models too) went with Lowry to Quaker Square:
By the time I had a car, video camera and the will to drive down on my own, the layout upstairs at the restaurant (the spaghetti depot) had been changed to a very simplified G scale pike.
Penny.... I always wondered what happened to the Lowery layout. My uncle lived at Turkey Lake south of Akron and worked for Firestone.
MartyE....I'll be making another trip back in 2019.
Happy New Year!
definatly need to get up there

That place is incredible, and this is the first I've heard of it!
You know, the New Jersey Hi-Railers in Paterson NJ claim to have the biggest O gauge layout in the country, I can believe it, I've seen it and it's jaw-dropping, but after seeing pics of the Corner Field layout now I'm not so sure about that.
Have a look at the Hi-Railers and see what you think.
