It's beginning to look a lot like....Standard Gauge.
...and then my camera batteries quit! Oh well, more soon!
Trains, trains, wonderful trains. The more you get, the more you toot!
Camera batteries. Always letting you down when you need 'em the most!
My Argus C-3 never backstabs me like that!
Great work as usual Becky, you continue to amaze!

Here's the "display" I've been working on since July.
I really like that
Wow Fifedog, that's incredible! I've heard of "1:1" scale before but this is the first time I've seen someone modeling it! Amazing!
I wanted to make it the unofficial "Greeting Card" from Western Maryland. Inspired by the CP holiday train, it offers our riders a nice visual, as the train meanders up and down the mountain, where before all you could see is blackness and your reflection out the windows. It's getting noticed now by the local media, as well as the region's residents. The most time consuming part of the project has been planning, as well as installing the brackets from which everything is strung. Our crew really put their shoulders down and did an excellent job. Next year will be a cinch.
Winterland, Inc. is our source for the lights and displays, and Mr. Fred is excellent to work with, and learn from.
Got some double A's yesterday so I'm back in business.
I bought the gondola on the right at a show a few years back. I recognized that it had been repainted with Dutch Boy latex peacock since I'd used that paint before. So it's definately not an original Lionel finish, neither are it's number plates which read "517". The red gon is a 112 that I painted and added 4 peel and stick keystone LL plates instead of Lake Shore lettering.
I like these bottle brush trees, they enhance the art deco feel of the trains.
That's a Hallmark 400E ornament on the steps, though I couldn't imagine it being very easy to see on the average 6 or 7 foot tree. (I made the Lionel box.)
I had to try to catch the shadow...
Wonderful work!
And it's hard to catch the shadow, because " The Shadow knows..."

Neat stuff.
I took some pictures of a Polar Express themed layout we had set up yesterday for an open house at the KATY Depot Museum.
I want to post pictures, but Photobucket wants $$$$ for third party access. Not going to happen.
I need a new photo hosting site. What are you folks using?
Thanks.
Not having a digitable camera I don't post myself, but from what I understand Penny Trains and quite a few others use "Shutterfly" and are quite pleased with it.
Unlike Photobucket they don't try to put the squeeze on their users.

Becky,
Love the Euclid Beach arch. The amusement park is long gone but the arch remains. Spent some fun times there long ago with the Ohio branch of the family.
Regards, Roy
It was a classic park allright. It closed about a month before I was born.
However I did ride several of the rides in later incarnations. The Racing Derby became Cedar Downs and still operates at Cedar Point.
The Western Reserve Historical Society restored the Carrousel in recent years:
The rocket car roams Cleveland streets:
And back in the 70's we used to go out to Shady Lake Park in Streetsboro where several of the rides ended up:
Which is where I got to ride the Euclid Beach Chief:
Sadly, that park is gone now too.
That rocket car is incredible! I gotta have one!
Actually, I think it looks more like a Zeppelin, but that's OK, I caught "Zeppelin Fever" a long time ago. I can just see myself driving cross country in that thing with the "Graf Zeppelin Marsch" blaring out of a speaker!

Original Buck Rogers inspired and home built in their own workshops like all of their rides:
It's not as big a stretch as the "Thriller Car"
The hot rod with the roller coaster back:
There was also a fire engine that acted like a tram inside the park grounds:
Video time!
Great video Becky! Photos are wonderful to see, but there is something to be said for watching toy trains in action. The trains and the aircraft models really set the mood for a vintage style Christmas layout. I did find the extra footage disturbing. Hope there was no damage. Nice sound effects though!

Keep this up Becky and you'll be a Christmas institution like Mr. Claus in no time!
And when I saw that additional footage I had the same reaction as this guy, and with the same voice...

I thought of this classic moment from TM's Great Toy Train Layouts of America #1:
Speaking of those who helped create Disneyland...that video is in production now.
Enjoy!
We're not worrrthy! We're not worrrthy!
Outstanding work, Becky.

Great stuff Kev!
OK. I've just opened a new account on a third party photo site. Let's see if I can remember how to post pictures.
These are snapshots of the Polar Express themed layout we had set up two weekd ago for a kid's open house at the KATY depot museum two weeks ago. We had somewhere between 400 and 500 people at the event.
Not quite as simple as clicking on a URL address, but my son showed me a way to get a pointer to the pictures.

Penny, your layouts are always so awesome!! I love looking at the pictures you take. They are so calming!!
I've gotten a lesson from my tech savy son about posting a picture from Shutterfly and edited the pictures into my last post. Scroll down and take a look.
Aha! There you go! Looks great!
