I was wondering. Aside from the years issued and the locomotive they were issued with. What if any, are the differences between the 2020w, 6020w, and the 671w tenders? They all lokk pretty much identical to me except for the numbers.
There are several details that may explain the differences (if any):
o "There are two types of whistles used in the current production of whistle tenders. Whistle WS-85 is used for '0' Gauge outfits; whistle WS-75 is used for '0-27' outfits. The two whistles are identical mechanically but differ in the winding of the motor field so that the WS-85 whistle operates at approximately 11 volts while the WS-75 works at 9 volts."
o John Grams, in his article "Making the right connection" in the September, 2001, CTT writes: "The tenders were equipped with four-wheel trucks of the bar-end, staple-end and Scout types, with coil or magnetic couplers."
o Grams also mentions that various tenders had deck or corner railings, or both.
