Skookum 2-4-4-2 engine in 3 rail?
Posted by Boyd on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 2:28 AM

I found quite interesting the October 2018 issue of Trains Magazine the article of the Skookum locomotive and its very long road to restoration. Lionel, MTH or ? please make a model of this engine. It might even be able to run on 027 curves but I’d guess it would cost $1,200 each paid ahead of time. Im not up to date on model train manufacturing in China vs terriffs which could be a roadblock.

Modeling the "Fargo Area Rapid Transit" in O scale 3 rail.

If Skookum generates a lot of interest, and if Lionel or MTH think it'll be a good seller and they can make money on it, you just may see an O gauge Skookum.

Only time will tell.

3rd Rail would be a more likely candidate.

Trains, trains, wonderful trains.  The more you get, the more you toot!  Big Smile

If you're willing to compromise, Bachmann makes an On30 2-4-4-2 which "kinda-sorta" looks like Skookum.  You can find it on the Bachmann website.

Retails for $565.
