Yes indeed. Thanks so much. During the interval between when I posted this query and when it was actually approved and published, I did find those parts. I will be calling Lionel in the morning in hopes of a replacement. Looks like I'll have to buy the whole truck.

Another option would be to swap the rear truck from the observation car with the broken sleeper truck.

Looked it up on lionel site and this is what they said

https://www.lionelsupport.com/ReplacementParts/index.cfm?doAction=productPartFilter&number=6-25641&productID=74663c44-426b-4651-b20b-c758bd58bba8

look at item 14 $32.00 for the whole truck with coupler. they don't show it as a seperate piece. I do believe in November thou Lionel has a 1/2 off parts day.

Coupler failure on new Lionel Southern Crescent heavyweight sleeper

My Christmas tree train for this year is going to be a Lionel Legacy Southern Crescent Pacific with the four heavyweight passenger car package. It arrived today and I proceded to test it on a bit of track on the dining room table. After setting up the Legacy system on the train and checking all that out, I ran it for a while then started adding the four passenger cars, one at a time.

On car #3, the Stonewall Jackson sleeper, the coupler immediately broke when I started the train back up. It literally broke apart in less than a car length.

The fixed part of the coupler broke and the knuckle came out with part of an "ear" on the pivot rivet.

I've had no luck finding the part on Lionel's site, nor any sort of parts diagram.

Do you think I can replace just the broken coupler body? Can it be removed from the swing arm? Ideally I'd like an assembly of the coupler body and knuckle.

I'd sure appreciate some advice from the wealth of experience that participates on this forum. Broken Coupler
