Canadian lampholders?
Posted by lionelsoni on Friday, December 24, 2004 4:15 PM
I just went to a couple of local Radio Shack stores to replenish my stock of bayonet lampholders with mounting brackets, which I use extensively to replace the grounded ones in Lionel locomotives and cars. Although they had a bin for parts of that description, it was numbered for and filled with screw-type lampholders, part number 272-360 rather than the 272-359 that I sought.

They say, "You've got questions. We've got answers." I called their 800 number and found that the answer is "no". However, the Canadian Radio Shack site says that they have the 272-359 in packages of 6 in stock! Unfortunately, they do not ship to the US.

So, is there any Canadian among us who would be willing to buy a lifetime supply of these for me? Eight packages at $3.49 would merit free shipping from Radio Shack to you and I will of course pay to ship from you to me. I will pay you in whichever currency you prefer, in either case considering our two dollars to be worth the same.

Bob
Try the following web site
www.mouser.com
They have a selection of bayonet lambs and holders. They have spec. sheets as well that could help in finding the proper size. Their web site is large and they carry many manufactures products.

Bob,
I go to church with the manager of our local Radio Shack, and he can sometimes get me things that otherwise are not available. I'd be glad to check into getting some here in the US and shipping them to you if you would like.

Thanks, prr and Ben. I just ordered some from Mouser. I had looked in some other catalogs and didn't find what I wanted. But I overlooked Mouser. I couldn't find the parts in the on-line catalog; so I put in the part number from a 1992 catalog, and it worked!
