AC alternatives to wire Lionel Burning Switch Tower?
Posted by 671Turbine on Sunday, April 8, 2018 4:54 PM

I recently dusted off a Burning Switch Tower I bought in the early 2000's...I didn't realize until I read the manual, but it requires AC power.  My layout is post-war era mostly and I am using 2 KWs, is there any time of a converter I could use to power the Burning Switch Tower or do I have to find an AC transformer?  Thank you!

As far as I know KWs are AC transformers, and so are most postwar trains.  Sounds to me like you're good to go.

Oh thanks Pete, I don't know why I was thinking older postwar transformers were DC power

Actually, all transformers, for toy trains or any other purpose, are AC transformers.

DC transformers are something that novices are sent to fetch as a practical joke, like left-handed wrenches and prop wash.
