I have a '90s Lionel engine that I want to put on a powered siding. Switch options on the underside are horn on or off and directional control on or off. Is there any way to put the engine in neutral. I seem to recall the postwar units had a setting on the e-unit to put the engine in neutral.
With the direction switch in the 'on' position, power up the engine to get it running. Power off the engine, and power it up again. The engine should now be in neutral. If it is, push the direction switch to the 'off' position and the engine will be locked in the neutral position.
What kind of engine is it, and what is its number?

It's a Lonel 8906 Erie Lackawanna RS3 circa early 90s. Jim
