If you have a Z4000, it would seem like you need not anymore...

Agree, the Z4K is all you need for now untill you buy more sophisticated engines running Legacy or TMCC.

Best power control option for a variety of locomotives
Posted by Graystoke on Sunday, March 18, 2018 8:13 AM

I have returned to O gauge after a long time and need help to determine the smallest footprint possible, at a reasonable price, to power and control a variety of locomotives from different manufacturers and versions of their products.

Price target is $400 or less additional spend.

Locomotives:

- Conventional old stuff

- MTH Protosound 2

- Lionel LionChief (with their associated remote controls)

- Lionel Trainmaster

Equipment I already have:

- Lionel KW, MTH Z4000

- Lionel Cab-1 remote (no base unit)

- MTH P2 TIU

My layout plans are small - this will be a floor set up for the foreseeable future, but I'd still like to understand what is the best combination for price and features.  I will rarely run more than one loco at a time.

Thanks!
