I had a very simple train control system in the Oct. 2007 CTT.

Earl: "electronics" ? ME ? Not a chance! I've known of Arduino and related......Was really looking for a simple hook-up device. Thanks for the suggestion.

If your up to a little bit of electronics and programming, the Arduino has almost unlimited possibilities for train control.

The track controlled by the stations is not required to be near the station building, it can be located anywhere, even multiple areas.

The Lionel 253 signal has the same mechanism as the stations built in to the base if you want to go that route.

I don't know if there is a seperate automatic train control as you ask, but there is no reason you couldn't use the one from inside the station to do the same in another location.

Automatic Train Control
Posted by traindaddy1 on Friday, February 23, 2018 7:37 AM

The Lionel Passenger stations #115 and #132 have Automatic Train Control devices that allow the train to stop for a pre-determinated time.

Would you know if there is an Automated Train Control accessory on the market that could be set up any place on the layout (like maybe in a tunnel) for use with traditional O27 tubular track?

As always, many thanks.
