Wiring the 12 volt relay for 153 block signal, just to change the lights from green to red. How is it wired to the insulated rail and 153? Is it in any of the back issues of CTT.
Gatt,
Important. Precisely which/whose relay are you using? Is it a 12 VDC or 12 VAC relay? This is important as to how the relay coil is tied to the common rail and a power source.
Also, what are you planning to power the relay coil with? A Lionel transformer (which one) or a separate transformer/DC supply?
Here is a post where a couple of folks post solutions, particularly the one where Bob (Lionelsoni) describes a way to operate a 153 without a relay (using a separate bulb).

Well for some unknown reason today, Apples garbage ipad keyboard S/W will not enable the web link. Tried editing several times. Copy the link into your browser if necessary.
Here is another article describing several relay options.

And magically the link pasted ok on this one....

Thanks Roy, I'm printing the info. It is a 12VDC. I have the rectifiers. I purchased a few of them, so I want to use them and check of the other solution too. I have separate transformers, so I will get to work tonight. Thanks again.
