Try a volt meter from U and the other on A. With the throtle lever moved , you should get a reading. If not, transformer problems. If yu got voltage there, trace yur wiring and connections to track. Then put volt meter on center rail and the outside rail you have the U post connected. Should get voltage there. If you do, you have got train problems.

Hi everyone im new to model railroading and im haveing trouble getting my lionel to move at all on my track, i have the wires going to post A and U but no action. the green light is on on my transformer and just hums loudly. any help would be great thanks mike. p.s is there a book railroads for dummies?
