The lens gets pressed out, and the new one gets pressed in. The fit is a little tight to keep it in place.

My 1953 Lionel 685 is in good condition, overall, but the headlight lens is cracked. (I blame my brother, who had the train after I left for college!) I found a replacment lens, but I'm not sure how to go about removing the old one without damaging the boiler front plate. (I do know how to remove the front plate!)
