I have a Lionel 0-8-0 made in 2008 and I am having major problems with it. It runs like a bandit in reverse but nothing in forward. Smokes ok. I opened it up and noticed the e unit gets extremely hot when powered. I cannot find a replacement online... anyone have any ideas?
What is the product number of your loco?
Larry
Don't know if this is the same style engine or not, but,
Had a similer problem with my 2009 Santa Fe USRA 0-8-0 #123
Thought it was the e-unit. Got one from Jeff Kane Part number 0103-100 electronic E unit/DC motor 1 @ 16.50
But it was the motor that was bad so I ordered one of those later from him,
8661-100 DC motor w/flywheel & gear 1 @ 13.50

Only Lionel number I could find was 6308663001
So you could also order from Lionel here.

That pulls up as the same engine I have and the parts link I sent in the other post.
Good, Luck!
Tried that
E unit is marked as unavailabl, I have a motor and e unit coming from the train tender should be here in a few days
That e-unit has been up-graded to another number as shown in the diagram.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.
Got the Updated e unit and motor since it barely turned when given power, loco runs like new now!
