Lionel Prewar 820 Floodlights
Posted by Count Orlock on Saturday, December 9, 2017 2:12 PM

I have a Lionel prewar 820 floodlight car. The floodlights appear to be corroding. Is it safe to clean these with a scotchbright pad, very fine sandpaper, or a wire brush on a dremel? Or will that reduce the value and/or strip off the brass plate (if it isn't solid brass)? Would anyone happen to have any other advice on cleaning this, or should it be left as is?

Try using a buffing wheel on the Dremel with a buffing compound. Other media will leave scratches.

Maybe try some Tarn-X on an area on the bottom to see how it would work berore hitting it with anything rotating.
