Removing Decals Painted on K-Line TCA MP-15

Through some experimenting I found that with the use of Q Tip and use of Goof Off, one can remove the painted decals found on K Line TCA MP-15. After removed I used some steel wool to smooth out the plastic. I was also repainting the entire engine body so it was not as easy as removing a small decal.

Of course. there are different plastics out there and waterslide decals are much easier to remove with microl.

Could not immerse in brake fluid as there were some lights I could not remove from body and thought this was a pretty dramatic method.

I am not sure what you mean by "painted decals" but, following suggestions from others, I have successfully stripped paint from plastic Lionel shells using Dot 3 Brake Fluid. The instructions were to first put a couple drops on the inside of the shell to see if it has any effect on the plastic. Once comfortable that the fluid does not have any effect, cut the top off a 1 liter soda bottle, insert the shell into the bottle and fill it with the brake fluid. After a one day soak, the paint should be removed. After stripping, the shell should be washed in warm water with a mild soap such as Dawn and then dried. It was also suggested that the brake fluid be run through a coffee filter and saved for another stripping job. Do not dump spent brake fluid down the drain.

Does anyone have any best practices or have removed the TCA painted decals on a K Line MP-15 engine. What chemical did you use to remove?

I want to convert to a PRR engine black with correct new decals.
