Cute. It has been nice to see some references to Phil Klopp recently. The layouts look great and it was fun to see his std ga layout descend from the ceiling. I remember the article quite some years back where he described how he built the lift mechanism. As a boater I have been surprised that no one has adapted a cable winding pipe boat lift mechanism for a suspended layout. My lift is designed for 7000 lbs. For a small layout the lift components for a ton or so are not that expensive, all the parts are easily obtainable, can be placed in ones attic (or garage rafters - the winding pipe 'bearings/brackets' and side pulleys are designed to hang from rafters/joists), and are time tested for durability/safety.

Regards, Roy
