I bought the wind-up that is decorated for Lionel and has the propeller on the back....

What a blast!

First time, I wound the motor up tight, and went airborne when it hit the 042 curve!
Fortunately, it survived with only a minute scratch (stayed on the table), but I'm more carefull now. I run it all the time!

Great idea! I see them listed on ebay and have been tempted to buy one.

Christmas recommendation - Get a wind-up!

For the over 40 croud I'm recommending wind-up trains for Christmas.

Top ten Reasons why.........
1. It's great fun
2. Very therapeutic - for mind and body.
3. You got to pick-up the engine alot - feel it in your hand - get connected to tin.
4. The noise of tin on tracks is great.
5. Takes you back to a simpler time - pre electricity!
6. Your kids will think you've flipped your lid.
7.The feel and sound of winding a spring - soothing.
8. The way the loco shakes side to side as it races down the track.
9. The anticipation as it rounds the track - Will it make another lap?
10. No short circuits - your X-mas tree won't go up in flames!
