Question about Z-stuff crossing gates.
Posted by eZAK on Saturday, December 18, 2004 12:25 PM
I have two pairs of gates set up to control two crossings on a double track main line.

I'm using the infared block targets to trigger the gates.

The problem I'm having is with the timing, speed of trains and the holding circuit.
When I run my trains slow (prototypical) they trigger the gates in enough time to protect the crossing but by the time the train gets to the crossing the gates start to go up. The train needs to be in the crossing before the gates go up in order for the holding circuit to work.

Moving the block targets closer to the crossing will result in the gates coming down to late.

Speeding up the train will work but is NOT a solution.

Anybody have an idea?

A work around?

An adjustment?

Thank You.
