Lionel Lion Chief Plus gp20 Diesel Repair

Lion Chief  PLus shorted on section of track.  Fried something, i think.  Replaced obviously damaged wires.  Still will not run, any suggestions?.  How do you test circuit board and prevent this from happening again.  Any source of wiring diagrams available.  Lionel customer service and repair totally useless. Sent this item off for repair before and got it back damaged and unrepaired.

Search the forum for "TVS" (transient voltage suppressor).

Here is the page for a LionChief GP-20 parts breakdown.

Item #7 is the circuit board assembly with the part number.

You cannot test these boards without highly specialized equipment, programmed specifically for these boards.

To protect modern electronic equipment, you need to install quick acting circuit breakers (to protect the wiring and transformer), and transient voltage suppressors (to protect the electronics in the engines and rolling stock).
