HELP - Milk man won't deliver!!!! Lionel 3361
Posted by FEClionel on Thursday, December 16, 2004 10:37 PM
My Lionel 3361 milk car has a problem. The milkman pops out the door but he won't shot out any milk. I need to fix it before christmas. Hey's been delivering the milk since 1955 and I can't let him miss this year. Any ideas?

Sounds like a can jam. Pick up the car and rock it back and forth. Listen to see if the cans are moving in the chute. If you look in the door, can you see a can waiting? You might want to take the body off to see things clearly. If the man is moving, the problem should not be too severe.

The [}:)] Doctor is in !!! Elliot is right ! Cans will jam up in the chute and not drop into place for shoving on to the platform. It sounds like it is due for a tune-up! There was an
article in CTT about the trusty milk car and how to keep them doing the job that they were made for. I don't recall which issue right now(due to late hour) Perhaps one of our brothers has that issiue at hand(mine are in the dungeon.) Good luck on fixing the problem. Till My Next Missive, I Remain The Humble, Yet Strangly [}:)] Doctor !!!

Yep, this does look like a can jam. You will have to take the car body off to acess the problem. First, lift the 2 retainer latches and sqeeze them . Take them out. Then, gently put 2 fingers on each side of the car body(near the tabs near the door) then lift. It should come off now.

Now to remove the offending can. You will see on the very top of the whole unit where the waiting cans are, there is a cover preventing them to come out when the car is flipped upside down.
Take the two screws off of the cover and lift the cover up. The coil will be pulled up too, just fyi. There you should take all of the cans out. You should see a can sideways, twisted ,etc. Then put it all back together.
