So CW i just took your advice and tied into the existing wire and hoped the wire was ok. My parts came yesterday so I rebuilt the e-unit rewired everything and viola it is back to life! Just need to get the side rods and a jewel
There is a frame spreading tool on the market that is supposed to help get that fiber plate out. I have one. I have not had any sucess using it. Usually there is some wire running from the plate that can be salvaged. If the insulation is gone, slip some spaghetti tubing over the bare wire. Splice on another piece if necessary. Sometimes this entails working in a rather tight space. I look forward to reading other people's solutions.
Quick question. Is there a trick removing the plate to access the strip for soldering a new wire without messing the frame up?
