Photobucket changes linking policy
Posted by Penny Trains on Friday, June 30, 2017 7:17 PM

Photobucket has stopped allowing third party linking to photos for users who have free accounts:

Photobucket.com Terms of Use

Last revised June 28, 2017

Free account : Each individual Member gets one free account that provides 2 GB of free storage or space available for your original photo files, or videos under 10min. The free account does not allow any image linking or 3rd party image hosting. If a free account Member exceeds their Content Limit, their account will be immediately suspended and they will need to become a “Paying Member” (defined below) in order to continue accessing their account. You can upgrade to a Plus account at any time.

So, if you're using a free Photobucket account to post pics of your layouts and etc., you'll either have to start paying for it or post them somewhere else.  Just a word to the wise.

I have read this same thing on several other forums also and it makes me glad I use Shutterfly.

I wonder if this means that all existing links will be broken.  That will play havoc with the American Flyer thread.  I will have to keep watch on it.  Fortunately I use Shutterfly.

As best as I can tell any photos linked from a free Photobucket account will be "locked" until or unless the user subscribes to the paid service.  I transferred everything I had on Photobucket to Flikr.

I followed your advice years ago Northwoods and put everything on Shutterfly as well. So, hopefully there won't be much of a problem.

I created my Shutterfly account just a few minutes ago.  Now I'll have to copy my photobucket images over to Shutterfly.

If you don't want to loose your pictures, you can download them to your computer.

Shutterfly?  Isn't that a character from "My Little Pony?"
