Hello,

Try E-bay, but the only one you will find is a cheap MTH. MTH is the cheapest one, so I suggest that you Just get an MTH.

I know this may not be what you are looking for but you an get some of this Marx stuff cheap. I found an interesting site that makes overlays for it. http://fauxtoys.com/pages/250-locos-powered.html

One matchs the 49er engine you wanted. By the way I would only do this conversion to junkers if I were you.I think this site will do custom stuff too. Marx engine gears sometimes are incompatable with lionel switch track but you may be able to fit guts from a starter set in the shell. Good luck. This would definitly fit your cheaper catagory.

The New Haven had a streamlined deasel set that ran from Providence to Boston the body was made by Zepplin, the airship people in the time you speak of. It was called the Comet. It was silver and blue. If only there was a model....

MTH make nice models. I like mine. The 49er looks good. If you want cheap Marx Col. Vanderbuilt is cheap and has similar lines to the 49er. I say this only if you have no switches because it won't take them. I think lionel made something like this long, long ago a bath tub streamliner that could be repainted. Good luck.

Good Luck finding an inexpensive Forty Niner.

Weaver made a scale brass one that goes for around $600.00, so the only available one would be the MTH Railking version. But you apparently don't want that one.

Why not look for a Railking Burlington Zephyr or the Flying Yankee if you're looking for streamliners?

I need a cheap model of the Union Pacific's forty-niner NOT made by MTH. I plan to re-paint it in the green and orange of my O gauge rr; the Maine and Rhode Island. I WILL also take another streamlined pacific, hudson ect.
Call me crazy, but I LIKE Zito yellow. RAILFANESPEE4449
