Here's some pics of the drive belt and how it connects:

Now the search continues for a MPC or Lionel Inc plow housing part #
610-844-6612 or 8446-012
Here's the assembled and running 58.

Going to dissasemble and do a little more lubing and still look for an OE 58-12 Lionel housing. When I dissasemble I'll do some more pics to show how it works.
MPC housings are the same except for color.
I'm sure that is correct. But the spring on this one is on the inside, pushing the blade away from the pulley. So it seems all I need to do is put the spring on the outside so it pulls the wheel in against the pulley and get a 58-5 pulley, 58-6 pulley shaft, and a 58-7 belt(or o ring). The housing will work if I can build a bracket to replace the broken one. Or get a MPC housing(with bushing) and paint it.
I lubed the chassis and it runs and reverses great!
This is a great forum! Don't know what I'd do without all the help I've gotten!
There should be a pulley inside the blade housing. It rubs against the side of the fan and turns it. Check the MPC diagram, off the top of my head, there should be a spring on the end of the blade's shaft to which pulls it in and provides some tension against the pulley. As far as I remember, the MPC diagram is accurate.
Here's pics of what I have:

A big plus; the body is good; struts intact. And it runs but needs lube. I can't figure out what turns the "blade". I have a MPC printout that shows a o-ring(belt) and a front pulley. The parts look the same. The blade is in the housing and looks fine and spins well. But what spins it? Anybody have one that works and can pop the body off for a pic?
TIA;
Bob
I see three blower housings on EBay, all from the same seller. The green one is rather damaged. The brown and yellow ones look new, but do not include the bearings. Gryzboski's has them in yellow and brown. Some of his have the bearings. Call the store.
Thanks; I'm watching 3 plow housings in ebay, brown, yellow, and a used green one. I think the blades are ok. It arrives here tomorrow.
I see brown (tuscan) and yellow plow housing on Ebay very frequently. I haven't noticed them on any parts lists. I don't think I've seen green ones. Some of the housings on Ebay come with the bushings for the fan, others do not.
I've seen green fan blades, but the ones I saw did not have the swirl. Will they fit a Postwar #58? ..... I think so, but cannot be positive.
Picked one up on ebay that needs help. Plow housing broke plus other things up front. Body is good. Does anyone know if MPC or LTI versions use the same parts? I'd like to try to get it going again.Bob
TIA; Bob
