The Gauge 1 trains in Wegmans stores were originally installed in the bulk foods departments of the stores, and all of the equipment originally came from the Ridge Road Station(largest toy store on earth) toy & hobby shop in Holley, NY. This was when bulk foods were all the rage(think "Apples" stores, etc.).

The bulk foods departments at Wegmans stores get reset fairly often so are rather transient, but the train loops seldom get moved, resulting in remodels working around the train display in each store. You can find them now over huge cheese/dairy cases, or in the local / craft beer displays, or many other places.

Wegmans employs one full-time employee whose only job is to maintain the train displays throughout the chain.

Does anyone have the history of the Model trains that hang from the ceilings in the Wagman Stores?  How did they get started?  Who runs them. etc,?
