There doesn't seem to be an end to the rain that we are getting here in California. The Weather Service has been talking about "the SUPER STORMS" that happen every 100 to every 200 years and how we are overdue for one of these storms.
In 1862, 155 years ago, during 40-45 straight days of rain, the Central Valley of California from Redding to Fresno, a distance of 300 miles in length by 20 miles wide was left flooded. Some parts of the state got up to 120 inches of rain.
Here at the Veterans Home we lost a good size Redwood Tree that was on the edge of a creek. The soil just gave way under all of the rain. I talked with a fellow Home Member who has lived in California since the 1930s and he has never seen it this bad.
It does look like the Drought is over in Northern California. But the bad news is the rainy season is thru March.

V8Vega In 78 in the LA area there was a lot of snow in the mountains and then it rained and rained for about two weeks as I remember. It washed out graves in Sunland, washed out a big bridge, a normally dry or tiny creek was a 1/4 mile wide raging river, Foothill Blvd. was closed for 6 months except for residents as it was full of mud and dirt. Last Fri. it just poured constantly all afternoon, you didn't want to drive anywhere.

Thank you for your kind words. The one good thing for me at least after all of the rain, one of our gardners is going to save me some of the Redwood tree that fell last week. I really like Redwood trees. The Redwood tree outside my window is just under 6 feet tall. One tree dies and another is just starting its life.
