Thanks for the ideas presented thus far.  I have checked and don't believe there is any binding.  Wonder if a faulty E-Unit could cause this problem?  Can't see/don't know where the field and brush wires terminate.  Also, still wondering how to test the armature and field winding.

After ensuring there is no binding, unlike AFs you can roll the engine in your palm to verify no binding; then look for any loose wires.  I've had to re-solder the wire that goes to the brush plate a couple of times

my 333 did this. One of the drivers was lose, and it moved enough to bind the side rods.

Marx 333 motor trouble
Posted by muckly on Monday, February 13, 2017 4:45 PM

My Marx 333 was running fine, but it quit.  It has power to the light and smoker, but the motor won't turn.  Cleaned commutator and brush wells, but it still won't turn.  I am wondering if someone can tell me how to test the armature and field windings OR if I should maybe look for a different cause.  I will definitely appreciate any help or thoughts you might have.
