whats broke on the coupler? is it just the tongue piece or more. You can get that piece from most parts guy like Jeff Kane at the train tender WWW.TTENDER.Com
it also depends some on the type coupler.

I have a couple of couplers invariois states of broken on a couple cars. One.of those box of cars for 5 bucks thing. Some of the cars I want to strip for.parts since that is all they are good for. But a handful are in good shape. Just damaged.couplers. iI figured I would ask about truck replacement while I was at it
I think your question is a bit broad. During the postwar period, Lionel started out using metal trucks and by the late 1960's was using plastic trucks. Off the top of my head, I can think of three ways that metal trucks were mounted:a boss that was clinched to the top of the truck, and held by a c-clip or horse shoe washerA push-in tinnerman's clipa boss with built-in spacer that was clinched to the top of the truck, and held by a screw. Plastic trucks were usually riveted, a few had a boss and c-clip arrangement, like the metal trucks. You can read about trucks and couples by going to the Olsens web site, and reading the pages posted from the Lionel Service manual:http://pictures.olsenstoy.com/searchcd2j.htm
