American Flyer #720 Switch Lightbulb
Posted by MisterFribble on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 1:53 PM

Hello. I am planning a postwar-style railroad and one of my #720 switches has a burnt out light. Can you tell me what bulb it uses so that I can replace it?

Those 432 bulbs are for the controllers. I just checked the Flyer service manual, the switch itselfs takes a G-3 1/2, 18 volt bulb, which would be a GE #1447.

There are two better alternatives to the 1447 for the turnout lanterns. The one I have used is the 2447, a 24V bulb that runs cooler and should last indefinitely. There is now an LED available, the 3224. I have not yet tried one. Both bulbs are readily available, one supplier that has them is Port Lines.
