The recent era ALCOs use DC motors in the truck...great idea. I did a SILVER SPIKE set with both units powered 2 motor trucks each unit tied to a common e-unit. I could see doing a Blue and Yellow SF freight done the same way as an A-B-A or A-B-B-A by using postwar bodies on all dummy chassis with modern power trucks. I would however wire each unit's motors in series slowing down the top speed of the loco. Plenty of room in the carbodies for sound, mars light etc. I ould love to make a twin motor B unit chassis for postwar magne traction motors....Think that Santa Fe A-B-B-A lashup pulling a string of K-Line Santa Fe Map boxcars and Reefers.
8N, I had 21 cars behind it before I finished the last A-unit. My limit is the O34 Marx 1/2 circle curve as it is to tight to pull more cars through.

Looks good, Kev. Keeping an existing paint job is a plus. I've still got to get my shells through the paint shop. I'm wanting to do a Missourri Pacific paint scheme.
How long of a train have you had behind yours? Last time I had a chance to make a long train, it was on a 9' by 18' oval. The train went about 1/2 way around the oval - somewhere between 20 and 25 cars. This included three of those long & heavy 4 truck drop center flat cars.
You will need to watch the coupler slop on those long trains. A quick stop can cause a derailment.
WOW !! You are a master, way beyond my humble skill level !

Your right. I fixed the title, for some reason I had a old timers moment.
Anything else you see wrong??? No spell checker on this site either.
Not sure if my eyes are off, but I only see 4 motors.

Wow, impressive! Now I know who to call if I need any tree stumps pulled!
Or as they old-time railroaders used to say, "It'll pull anything up to and including the yard office!"
Got the last powered A-unit finished today 8N,
Great idea you had 8N and makes for a great set.
Works Great but sure lets the ZW know it is feeding something with it and six lit passenger cars behind it.. I had a 218 shell on a frame with a 2 position e-unit motor in it that I pulled the motor, pick up truck and e-unit out of and installed the new motor, A unit dummy front truck and wired pigtails to the motor so it all runs off the E-unit in the lead engine. So there is 8 axles with magnets pulling. So a post war 218 leads the way for the twin motor 8021 B unit and 8020 powered A unit. Works GREAT!!!
