Thanks eveyone for the help. The reason the question was asked is in hopes of recovering my fathers old trains. 30years ago they were loaned to a friend who has passed on and no one returned the trains. We thought they were lost for good but decided to make some calls. We found out where they are and now is the challange to get them back. The person they were loaned to got a new set in 1957. I knew his set was 48-50 and we have only a few pieces. One was a tender I figured They were only produced for a few years and as a kid I thought I remembered a 2025 and 2026 engine on the neighbors platform. He had loaned him 2 sets to expand his platform. I have a gang car and #60 trolley and a Milk car dated 1947, but my dad couldn't remember what the train #'s were. As a kid due to space we always used HO but the neighbor always set up the Lionel for the kids in the neighborhood. He also loaned him a ZW transformer. I hope the trains will be returned but I wanted to explain to them how I know what trains were my dad's. Also just purchased a New York Central Flyer for under the tree for my kids. If I get the other trains back they will be set up on a permanent platform in my basement. Thanks again.

1688,

The article shows the 6466W for 50-52. The 6466WX for 48-49. I have no expertise to say whether this is more or less accurate than your knowledge.

Oops! My mistake. I looked in the wrong file!

Sept 01 has a great article on tenders.

6466wx is 1948-49. It came with the 675, 2025, and 2026 locos.

Hello Flyingtothetop! The 6466 Tender Came with the Following Engines: 675,2025,1666,2026(both the 1948-49 & the 1950-52 versions) The 6466 started life as a prewar tender numbered # 2666 which was used with the prewar 1664,229,1666 series Engines.By the way.some had whistles,While others did not. the 6466 was made from 1946-late 1953 era. the 2666 was made about 1940-42. Hope this helps........Keith.

Bob,

I could not find anything on tenders in the Sept/Oct 01 issue. I do remember an article a while back on tenders, but I do not remember the issue.

There is an article on this in the September, 2001, CTT. I'll look it up at home if no one else gets to it first.
