Where to find Lionel "Super O" Track???????
Posted by Anonymous on Thursday, December 9, 2004 9:57 AM
Hey Ya'll

I am a diehard fan of postwar trains (I like prewar and modern too though). I have played with my Aunt denise's dad's (My Uncle ***, he passedaway when I was 4) Lionel Scout set he had as a boy.

In the box, there is a large assortment of 0-27 track, cardboard buildings, die cast figures, cars, and benches, animals, white fencing, and a 90 degree crossing. I play with that set when ever I am over ather house.

Well, there is a copy of Lionel's 1960 catolog in there, and it has alot of my favourties, the Snat Fes, the Turbines, The Genral, the N&W 742, the GG1, aluminum streamlined cars and 0-27 cars.

There is also a section for layouts and "Super O" Track. I didn't really care much for it, until, I bought all the issues of CCT at a yard sale. One magazine had a feture on the 1957 showroom layout and Super O Track. Another had an article on Lioenls used in the show "Chicago Hope" I read that Mandy Patkin had a 4x8 board with Super O and a town.

That inspired me to track down Some Super O and build a 4x8 layout eith it.

In knowit has been dicontinued, but where can I find a good source for Lionel "Super O"

Nick,

There used to be an advertiser in CTT that specialized in Super O track, but I could not find it. Since you have a lot of the older issues around, scan them, particularly the issue where you found the article you reference.

Be aware it is not cheap, with curves being cheaper than straights because there are a lot more curves manufactured than straights. Think of sets where a circle of track is included - lots of curves and maybe 4 straights.

A Google search on Lionel Super O turned up lots of links.

Roy

You might want to consider a mass mailing, email style to several train stores, especially in the east. I recently did a mailing to several stores for a G Scale car I was looking for and two of the five stores had the item.

I saw a fair bit of it at a train show this past weekend, though much of it was under the table. Always look under the tables at train shows... Since I'm a tubular kind of guy I didn't pay any attention to the prices.

Hi Nick,

Check out the following link. I believe he has also advertised in the classified section of CTT for selling Super O.

Hey Ya'll

I did a yahoo searcg and found every thing from Super "O" for sale and Super "O" layout plans. I hit the jackpot on e-bay, and that should suit for 2 layouts and still have a good bit to place on the florr or around the christmas tree.
