CARPET LAYOUTS
Posted by G BEAR on Monday, August 1, 2016 4:11 PM

I live in a retirement home in Northern California and I have had a Carpet Layout for many years.  The biggest layout in my room was 6' x 15', but right now my layout is 46" x 126" using 0-36", 10" st. and 30" st. Lionel Fastrack.  I could have a layout off of the floor but there is something special about getting down and playing with my trains on the carpet. Big Smile  Does anyone else enjoy having a carpet layout.  Thanks for sharing.

Right know in my "man cave" I have a loop of Pre war Gilbert Flyer and another loop of post war flyer. Still working on the basement.

Only at Christmas, but it sure is fun to get down on the floor and watch that smokin' steam engine barreling at you!

The side effect is a cold wet Basset hound nose in my ear.

I probably shouldn't mention this, might get in trouble, but there's a reviewer for "O Gauge Railroading" magazine named George Brown who calls his layout "The Carpet Central," which pretty much says it all.

All of mine are these days.  This is the current incarnation of the 4 by 6 in my bedroom.  In a couple of weeks I'll strip the board and get it ready for the Christmas version.

Absolutely! I took over the living room just this past weekend so I could set up my wide radius track for my auto rack train.

Your work is wonderful, Becky. It shows what can be done in a small space in O gauge. It's a shame you have to tear it all down, but I do look forward to your new Christmas layout.
