Question for Legacy users That upgraded from TMCC
Posted by rtraincollector on Saturday, July 23, 2016 7:07 PM

Back about 2 months ago I rebought a TMCC cab set up as like a fool sold the ones I had and won it on Ebay, Well next day I found a used Legacy system for sale for a great price. anyway I have used the Legacy to run one of my TMCC engies. I have like 6-8 engines that hace command in them and only 1 of them has Legacy.

My question if all you really had was the old TMCC would you still upgrade to Legacy or just keep what you have and your comfortable with?

Whats the advantage of upgrading to Legacy if you really don't use it as your running just TMCC engine?

Thanks for any reply's I know in the end it is still my decision

RT, I started with TMCC and was totally satisfied.  About a year later I got the DCS system and was overwhelmed with all of its features, and REALLY liked the remote.  Also the fact I could run ALL my engines with the DCS system.  Then I purchased the Lionel Big Boy which came with the Legacy.  I was very pleased with the Legacy CAB2 remote and its display.  I pretty much retired the CAB1 remote.  I still prefer the DCS over the Legacy or TMCC, primarily because I can run anything with it.  I found the CAB2 still preferrable over the TMCC.  I use the TMCC remote when I have visitors, especially younger ones due to its simplicity.  Regarding the features, I find the CAB2 has better engine control than the CAB1, but almost always the DCS is the controller I normally use.  I am very happy I have all three systems and wouldn't give any of them up.  But in my case, I prefer the DCS, Legacy, then TMCC.  So far in MY OPINION, the benefits of the Legacy vs TMCC is minimial.  The primary difference being the display of the remote.  (If I were to compare the DCS vs Legacy, I prefer the DCS, because I can run all engines with it, and DCS PS2/PS3 engines have so many more audio features.  All that being said I have a Legacy Heisler engine on order, so having all three gives me the best of both worlds.)  Good Luck, I don't think you will be disappointed with the Legacy you got, congrats.
