Oh I try Becky, BELIEVE me I try! It just seems I never find my best stuff, they find ME!
I'll be walking down an aisle at an antique show, a train show, or a hobby shop and a voice seems to whisper in my ear, "Hey! Look this way..."
Spooky. But it seems to work.
If it's only "sometimes" you're just not trying!
And there's always train shows, I usually have pretty good luck with those.
Not always mind, but sometimes I come away with stuff I didn't know I needed.
Well I still have the Trading Post for vintage equipment. But now I guess I'll have to mail order a lot more of the basics.
Sounds like a retirement thing. We lost two hobby shops here in the Richmond area due to retirements, but what can you do? People who spend their lives working hard deserve a good retirement, and if no-one wants the business, well, that's the end of it. Doesn't have to mean hobby shops either, bakeries, diners, restaurants, or any small businesses for that matter, can all go the same way. Time marches on and things change, and not always for the better.
They've been trying to sell the building for several years. They were hoping to get someone who would buy it and take over the store but no such luck. They sold the building to their tenant next door who owns a matress store a couple of weeks back but didn't want to make the news public till July.
That's too bad Becky, any reasons given? Poor business, or just retiring and no-one wants to take it over?

Penny, that is truly sad news. I do not buy much any more, but I do try to get items from the local area.

It was announced today that Parma Hobby, 5275 Ridge Rd., Parma, Oh will be closing up soon. As far as I know, they're the last full service hobby shop in my area.
