My neighbor gave this 259 Steamer to me yesterday. So it would be nice to know the year and model number of it. It does not have a tender and I would like to know what tender it would have. Any of you know??Tks,

Yeah I am finding that RT, Wonder what tender will work that has a postwar coupler on it instead of the pre-war coupler?
Whatever tender you use will need a drawbar with a hole for the pin, just like that used for the 1689T and 2689T tenders and the Harry Potter engine. The hole could be widened on another drawbar, but that would severely limit your curves to at least 042 or larger. I personally use a Marx wedge tender equipped with a stock Lionel drawbar from 1941.
Kevin if it has latch couplrer remove it and add 480-25 base plate and coupler if it has what I call box coupler just turn the truck around so the coupler is under it, now if it is auto coupler you may have to do some work to it. Another idea is a 262T most I have seen are latch coupler so you could remove that, they both look very simular to me
In addition, the 2466W/6466W tender shares its frame with the 2666 tender used in the prewar years. I don't know what else uses that frame however.

Got both the 616 and 259E running but the 616 is missing the one axle and the banana whistle is broken into a lot of junk. The 259E does not like O-27 track and switches so it won't be much good to me. May just get a 259T and find a shelf for it to sit on.
Kevin it was designed for the taller O Gauge track not O-27, so thats your problem. But it's a nice engine. you may look into making another level somewhere and put a small oval on it of O so you can run it.
Embrace it. Don't change it.
