MTH DCS Control System
Posted by balusita on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 7:47 PM

Gentlemen ,

I have just purchased a MTH DCS Explorer wifi track interface unit, however I am not able to unload the software from the MEH site (www.mthtrains.com) into my Samsung Android Cell phone , is this because MTH went out of business?.

Can anybody help?, thanks , Juan Carlos (Argentina)

As far as I know the remote commander will only run one PS2/3 engine at a time. I guess you could run more than one engine but they will all respond to the button you push. You cannot control them seperately. I prefer the Lionel system so you need some advice from a DCS user.

Assuming you are talking about the DCS Remote Cammader, track/transformer attached receiver and handheld transmitter, that come with the RTR sets..

Step 1

>If you were to electrically isolate the two loops from each other and they each had their own power source that would cure one of the problems.

Step 2

>The second part of the "cure" would be to put a receiver at oposite ends of the loops, inner loop at one end outer loop at oposite end.  The remote commander is strictly "line of sight" IR control.

To control one you point to receiver A, to control the second train you point to receiver B.

You could still keep both loops connected for transitioning to each other just have to keep them electrically isolated. By isolating some of the sidings with on/off toggle switchs it would give you some parking spots for other equipment.

Hope this was helpful.

Gentlemen , I have a 5x9 simple layout ( First O gauge), two concentric ovals, interconected  and a couple of sidings. ALl my gear is MTH , I run them with DCS Remote Commanader Set ( Three sets that come the MTH train sets).

I experience interference between the controllers, so I run/stop a train when  in reality I wish to run another  loco, why? Can anybody explain/help?

So , is the solution the DCS Remote Control System , TIU , etc etc , or there is  another sytem that can be used , a DCS Commander ?

Your assistance will be much appreciated. Juan

Hello Juan!

Not entirely clear on what you tried to download. The APP for Android devices to control DCS via WiFi is downloadable from the Google Play APP store (not directly from the DCS WiFi unit as your mail description seems to imply to me).

MTH DSC WiFI smartphone APP available here:

Wi-Fi DCS - Apps on Google Play

Apologies if I misunderstood your question.

BTW - is seems better to say at this time that MTH is reformulating their business with the retirement of Mr. Wolf. The electronics (DCS etc) and other elements of the business will continue to exist and from comments they have released they have an issue with electronics components from China - i.e. delays due to the COVID shutdowns last year.

Regards, Roy
