American Flyer's "Game Train"
Posted by NNJRailfan on Friday, May 20, 2016 1:25 PM

Going off on a tangent to my post about replacing trucks, the tender at issue is part of American Flyer's "Game Train" with the Casey Jones 4-4-0 engine.  I have a couple of freight cars in addition to the loco, and I'm wondering else came with the set (if it was a set).  Is there an online source showing AF's vintage offerings, something like "Tony Cook's HO Scale Trains Resource"?

Maybe you can find it in one of the catalogs here:  http://www.myflyertrains.org/AF_Catalogs/Gilbert%20Catalogs.htm

Perfect!  It's right there on the last page of the 1963 catalog.  Which then conjures up the next question - what are the chances of finding the board game that goes with it?

Finding the board game?  There's only one way I can think of.  You'll have to hit train shows both big and small, hobby shops that have been around for a while, antique and collectable shops, flea markets, and so on.  And keep your fingers crossed!

Besides, the thrill of the hunt is half the fun!  Trust me on that one!

I've seen the board game, in various stages of completness on Ebay several times.  The Casey Jones locos where very common, the game board and pieces are harder to come by,

Doesn't THAT look cool!  I'm not into AF or S gauge but if I ever see one of those things I'll probably grab it just for the fun of it.
