It takes almost two full droppers of fluid to overfill this engine.  Most folks tend to burn them out by not using enough.  Best practice is 20 drops after using, so that it's ready for next time.

Went this round recently. They spent about 6 emails trying to resolve it with no luck. Finally they had me send it to them under warranty. Fixed it and returned it in a few days. Put the mikado on a track to run and noticed a clicking sound. Checked closely and saw tha one of the wheel sections had a crack obviously don in shipping. They had me send it back at their expense and now it is just fine and smoking. They said it was burned out material in the engine.

LionChief Plus 2-8-2 Mikado Won't Smoke
Posted by Michigan Railfan on Tuesday, April 12, 2016 5:10 PM

I have a Lionel #6-81295 2-8-2 Mikado LionChief Plus Loco that suddenly stopped smoking. I think I may have filled up the smoke unit with too much smoke. Any ideas on how to get it to smoke again?
